Most commonly, Occupational Therapists work with people following mental or physical ill health or disability.

Occupational therapy refers to the use of meaningful activities (occupations) to assist individuals who for whatever reason have difficulty in performing their usual functions. Occupational therapists work out strategies, techniques, or adaptations for patients so that they can be as independent as possible.

The therapist would first perform a thorough assessment, followed by training sessions on activities of daily living to enable a patient to maximize his skills and abilities.
