Endoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic medical procedure used to evaluate the interior surfaces of an organ by inserting a small scope through one of the body's orifices. Doctors can directly see the lesion through the scope, take small biopsies, retrieve foreign objects or perform other minimally invasive treatment procedures.
