Mammography

Using special machine that delivers very low doses of x- ray to the breasts, mammography can detect tumors long before they are big enough to be detected clinically. The National Cancer Institute in the U.S. recommends that women over 40 should have a mammogram every one to two years. The test is also recommended for younger women who have a higher risk of the disease, such as having a positive family history.
