Stone Center

The Stone Center in Hong Kong Adventist Hospital is equipped with the latest generation lithotripter. Under the guidance of X-ray and Ultrasound imaging, the lithotripter employs "Shock-Wave" technology to pulverize stones in the kidney or ureter. The stone remnants are then expelled by the body through the urine. The procedure is also known as "Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy".

In compliance of the "Total Health" concept of the Adventist Church, our Stone Center is unique to Hong Kong as it is a comprehensive kidney stone treatment and prevention center. Patients not only receive urologist consultation and Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy, they may also receive dietary counseling and advice, and nephrologist consultation to access any underlying cause of kidney stones and medication, if necessary, to help prevent stone recurrence.
