Stroke rehabilitation helps stroke survivors relearn skills that are lost when part of the brain is damaged. The goals of stroke rehabilitation are to help survivors become as independent as possible and to attain the best possible quality of life.

Stroke Rehabilitation should begin as soon as the patient's medical condition has been stabilized to prevent such secondary problems as stiff joints, falls, bedsores and pneumonia.

Stroke patients may suffer from disabilities in different areas depending on the part of the brain affected and the severity, including:

By coordinating with doctors, neurologists and nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists, the Stroke Rehabilitation team would assess the patient carefully so as to design individualized rehabilitation programs aimed at regaining control over motor functions. Assessment and therapy is on an individual basis, with closed liaison with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure an optimum outcome.

Therapy is available for both in and out-patients.
