China’s first Adventist Hospital “Little Playground Hospital” was set up in Foshan, Guangzhou.

At the age of 80, Dr. Harry Willis Miller came to Hong Kong with the mission of establishing the hospital in Tsuen Wan and raising the fund for it.

Dr. Harry Willis Miller secured a land grant from the Government for building the second hospital in Stubbs Road.

Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital (currently known as “Hong Kong Adventist Hospital – Tsuen Wan”) opened for operation.

The groundbreaking ceremony for Hong Kong Adventist Hospital (currently known as “Hong Kong Adventist Hospital – Stubbs Road”) was held.

Dr Chan Shun, founder of Crocodile Garments Limited, contributed HK$1 million for building the hospital.

The management was committed to the development of clinical cardiology. Doctors and nurses were sent to the US to receive the training on surgical specialties and cardiology.

In striving for the proactive development of specialty services, the Nuclear Medicine Center, MRI Center, Skin Laser Center, Sleep Disorder Center, Ophthalmology Center, Hearing Center and Hemodialysis Center.

With the collaboration of the American Institute for Cancer Research, AmMed Cancer Center was set up to introduce the radiation therapy as well as a variety of advanced cancer treatment technologies.

An additional floor was built on top of the main block to accommodate an operating room, short stay unit, in addition to the expansion of the Endoscopy Center. The operating room team was sent overseas to receive the training on da Vinci Si HD Surgical System.
