Hong Kong Adventist Hospital – Stubbs Road has introduced an innovative treatment technology for prostate cancer: Irreversible Electroporation (IRE) local ablation therapy. This minimally invasive approach offers eligible patients a precise option that targets prostate tumors, significantly reduces side effects, and helps preserve quality of life.
The hospital now provides a comprehensive IRE treatment package, combined with personalized care plans to achieve the best possible outcomes. This technology was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in December 2024 for prostate tissue ablation and has also received CE certification in the European Union.
Before treatment begins, our physicians will conduct a thorough clinical assessment to determine whether the patient is suitable for IRE or recommend other minimally invasive treatment options available at our hospital. This therapy is particularly appropriate for patients with early-stage prostate cancer, where tumors can be clearly identified through MRI or PET scans, ensuring both precision and safety in treatment.
