Strengthen Pelvic Floor Muscles with the All-New Emsella Chair

Aging, childbirth, weight gain, menopause, long-term constipation, chronic cough, and other factors may contribute to weakened pelvic floor muscles, which may then lead to insufficient support of pelvic organs. Pelvic floor muscles that experience added pressure or a loss of control may also bring about vaginal laxity, frequent urination, or urinary incontinence, greatly affecting a person’s quality of life.
With this in mind, the Rehabilitation Center at Hong Kong Adventist Hospital – Stubbs Road recently installed an Emsella Chair, which easily and effortlessly targets a range of intimate health and wellness issues. The chair is equipped with patented technology that aims to strengthen and rehabilitate weak pelvic floor muscles, and is also recommended as post-natal exercise for new mothers. A single 28-minute session on the Emsella Chair induces 12,000 painless supramaximal pelvic floor muscle contractions, and over 80% of patients report significant improvements in terms of incontinence issues after treatment.
Those interested in receiving treatment through the use of the Emsella Chair should note the following:
1. Doctor's referral is required for treatment.
2. Treatment program targeting weak pelvic muscles includes: bladder muscle exercises, supplementary home exercises, Emsella Chair treatment, and recommendations for lifestyle changes.
3. Emsella Chair treatment may require a total of 6 or 8 sessions. Patients are suggested to undergo one session per visit, twice per week.
4. The first Emsella Chair treatment session includes an initial assessment, completion of a questionnaire, pelvic floor muscle training, and a trial run on the Emsella Chair. For more details, please check with Rehabilitation Center at (852) 2835 0558 or rehab.psr@hkah.org.hk
